1.自然界中的一些地理名稱大多要加the
例如:河流、湖泊、運河、海洋、海峽、沙漠、山脈。
河流:the Yellow River 黃河 the Nile 尼羅河
湖泊:the West Lake 西湖 the Great Lakes 五大湖
運河:the Panama Canal 巴拿馬運河
海洋:the Pacific 太平洋 the Atlantic 大西洋
海峽:the English Channel 英吉利海峽
沙漠:the Sahara 撒哈拉大沙漠
山脈:the Rocky Mountains 洛基山脈
2.只有一個詞的國家名,一般不加冠詞。

3.由普通名詞構成,或含有普通名詞的國名或地名前須加the
