這首歌是音樂劇《音樂之聲》（1965年初搬上銀幕）里的插曲之一。同名故事片《音樂之聲》描寫的是生性活潑、不安心當修女的姑娘瑪麗亞。故事發生在第二次世界大戰前的奧地利，實習修女瑪麗亞到一個海軍上校家里當家庭教師并逐漸獲得七個孩子的喜愛。最后，上校也愛上了她并與她結婚。
